First don’t worry, if you don’t want to partake in anything PVP wise you do not have to and there is a safety measure to keep everyone from being attacked, every location except for The Ruins of Trails is a friendly zone. Meaning if someone wants to fight you but you don’t want to fight them you are safe from being attacked. However if you are in The Ruins of Trails thread all bets are off as it says in the description it is a Player versus Player area.
Battle System
We’ll be using a freeform battle system to determine all fights and spars here. In order to give a basic outline of how battles will work, I'll provide a small example below.
Example 1: A Celestial Mage and a Dragon Slayer are doing battle. Both of these characters are within the same rank, C-ranked.
In this example, both players are within the same rankings bracket. Because of this, their power is equal, meaning one is not necessarily stronger than the other. This means, that if these two were to fight or spar, what would make the difference as to who wins or loses would be the skill of the roleplayer and how their abilities are used within the fight. Do take note that certain elements will have different advantages or disadvantages against each other but the overall outcome will still be determined based upon skill and techniques.
If one of the mages were at a higher rank, such as a B-Rank, then that Mage would have the edge as the sheer power of their spells would be greater than that of the C-ranked mage. As stated before, an elemental advantage can either negatively or positively influence the tide of the battle so choose carefully.
Attack System:
Whenever you decide to have PVP interaction with others, there are a few rules to abide by. Pvping is something that is perfectly fine, and also encouraged, so long as the person you wish to fight is the same rank as you or higher. An rper cannot attack a role player that is one or more ranks lower than the attacker, for example a Rank B cannot attack anyone in C or D Rank. HOWEVER if the lower rank was to attack the higher rank it’s fair game, for example if a D Rank attacked an S Rank player, the S rank player has the right to defend themselves as they see fit.
Sparing with other players works a bit differently, and can be done between any ranks so long as the two players agree. When Role Players are sparring, they cannot kill each other at the end of the sparring match. When pvping there is a limit to how many attacks one can unleash in a single post, the amount of attacks per post is 3 attacks, though this does not count towards blocking, defending, buffing or debuffing against attacks.
Death System:
Let’s be clear on one thing when regarding death, ANYONE CAN DIE. Whenever your character dies in the role play, however tragic or intentional it may be to you, do not give up hope! Whenever a player has been killed in combat, they will be allowed to make a new character. This new character will be two ranks lower than your previous characters rank, D-Rank being the lowest possible starting rank.
If a role player makes it clearly known that the death was intentional, they will have to start 3 ranks below their previous. However if there is a story to this intentional death than you go down 2 ranks instead but a Moderator must be notified of this story when the application is submitted or a month in advance of the characters death and approve of it.
If your character participates in an arc, and dies by an arc character, then the death penalties are less. If your character dies during an arc, you keep the same rank but the word count to upgrade to the next rank will be lost. Although, intentional deaths during an arc will result in losing 2 ranks, EX: You are perfectly fine fighting against an arc character, and die the next post.
